Thanks to the hype around AI, the head of Microsoft received about $ 1 billion

With a surge in interest in AI, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has increased its total payout to CEO Satya Nadella to about $1 billion, writes Business Insider.

Microsoft increased its market cap by $154 billion after announcing a new AI subscription that sees the company grow stronger amid the AI boom.

Nadella's $1 billion payout comes from his grants, salary, bonuses and dividends since he took over at the helm of the company in early 2014.

In 2022, his compensation was about $55 million, including a $2.5 million salary, $10 million in cash incentives, and $42 million in Microsoft stock.

However, $1 billion is the result of a nearly 1000% increase in the value of the company's shares since the beginning of the year and interest in AI.

Microsoft recently increased its market capitalization by $154 billion in a day after it announced a $30 AI subscription for its Office 365 platform.

Microsoft shares closed Wednesday at $355, valuing the company at just over $2.6 trillion.
